WORKSHOPS
1. STEWARD AND COMMITTEE TRAINING: Whether a new Steward or Committeeperson or an experienced one, this class offers an opportunity to learn and share information on responding to our members’ gripes and grievances.
2. BASIC UNIONISM: There is something for everybody in the labor movement, and in this class. For new members or members that never received an orientation, Basic Unionism covers the broad questions of how and why we do what we do. Show up, stand up, and be counted.
3. PUBLIC SPEAKING AND COMMUNICATION: Get up and speak up! If you’re active in the union, or want to become active, sooner or later you’re going to have to get up and speak up. Learn to put together a brief speech, one that will move your listeners and get attention in a good way.
4. LOCAL UNION ADMINISTRATION: Whether you just got elected or have been in office for years, this class will teach you the laws, rules and guidelines we all live by in the labor movement. Federal, State laws as well as Constitution and By-Laws will be covered in this class.
5. STEWARD AND COMMITTEE TRAINING, Section B: So many people wanted to take this class, we opened a second section! Please see description for Workshop 1, above.
6. ELECTRONIC AND PRINT MEDIA: Our favorite class, this one will look at all of the new ways to communicate electronically, and also explore print media that pops, reaches out and grabs you.
