Workers Pride Conference

Workers Pride is CLCS's newest conference, started in 2023. This conference invites all workers, union and non-union, and activists from allied organizations to share ideas and grow skills for responding to the challenges facing LGBTQIA+ working people and their allies. Instructors, facilitators, and coordinators are drawn from the LGBTQIA+ community! We welcome participants from all genders and all cultural or ethnic backgrounds.

We're Looking for Partners & Sponsors for 2024

Want to be a friend to both the greater Detroit queer community and the labor movement? Make a difference by supporting Workers Pride 2024! We're especially looking for sponsors to help underwrite the event so we can keep ticket prices low and provide scholarships for those who need it.

Email us at CLCS.info@umich.edu to inquire about partnering or sponsoring Workers Pride. Thank you for your support!

NEW!: CLCS & UM-Dearborn Admissions Partner with MOASH for BOOM Youth Summit

The Center for Labor & Community Studies and admissions at the University of Michigan - Dearborn have partnered with the Michigan Organization for Adolescent Sexual Health (MOASH) to bring their annual youth summit to the east side of the state. Their beloved youth summit on the west side of the state has flourished for 10 years. The summit has sold out the last several years, bringing in over 400 attendees  from across the state! Now, MOASH is replicating their youth summit on the east side with Building Our Own Movement (BOOM). The one-day event is geared for LGBTQ+ middle and high school students from GSAs in surrounding counties. BOOM will coincide with National Coming Out Day on October 11 and take place one day before CLCS's Worker's Pride Conference. Both BOOM and Workers Pride will be held at the Fairlane Center on University of Michigan - Dearborn's campus. CLCS is thrilled to be supporting this incredible event!

If you're interested in learning more about BOOM, visit MOASH's website or email their team at info@moash.org.
